Writers Rock Program

Thanks for your interest in being a published author with Youth Writers Rock. This is a writing project led by The Youth Writers Challenge (YWC).

We’ve partnered with the Orokawa YMCA in Towson, Maryland. All YWR sessions will be held there every other Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the Youth Writers Rock 2023 session (February 2023-May 2023). During those sessions, our mentors work with young writers to help develop stories.

There is NO fee for students to participate in this program.

You must submit an essay (200 words minimum) about one of the following topics:
1. Tell us why you want to be in the Youth Writers Rock program.
2. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go, and why?
3. Who is your hero/mentor, and why?
4. What is one of your greatest accomplishments?
5. If you could change anything in the world what would and be, and why?

  • The fundamentals of creative writing.
  • Editing 101
  • How to market your published book
  • How to build your niche market of readers
  • How to building business partnerships
  • At the end of the program the student will be a published author

** Important things to remember**

Writers Rock Program meets every other Saturday from Febraury 2023 until May 2023

  • Writers Rock Program meets every Saturday from10:00am until 1:00pm
  • Each student will be required to sign a Behavioral Contract
  • Each parent and student will be required to sign a confidential agreement
  • Each student will submit a photo and short bio(250 words or less) for website
